Halsted Mosquito Forceps offers a wide assortment of advantages during surgery. Its principal use is to provide an atraumatic way to compress arteries and veins, in order to block the blood flow during surgical procedures.
For this purpose, the Mosquito Forceps features a pair of jaws with a tapered design to easily traverse narrow passages. In addition, the opposing surfaces of the jaws have serrations to obtain a strong but atraumatic grip. Also, the shafts’ elongated profile helps to reach deep surgical sites.
Secondly, the toothed version of Mosquito Forceps features a pair of tapered jaws with 1 x 2 Toothed design. Therefore, it help to minimize local injury. In addition, surgeons can use its 1 x 2 toothed design to remove foreign bodies and grasp soft tissues.
